Kanye West’s Fifth Divorce Lawyer Resigns Amid Kim Kardashian Divorce

Kanye West has lost his fifth divorce attorney, as TMZ reported amid his split from Kim Kardashian, which finally has a trial date set for later this year.

As reported by rolling stone, his former attorney Samantha Spector was relieved of the case on Friday after asking Los Angeles County Judge Steve Cochran as such in May. She cited a communication breakdown as the reason for the request, leaving Ye without representation in the divorce proceedings. The former couple were declared legally single in March, but they have yet to come to an agreement regarding their wealth and four children together.

“We’ve been ready for quite a while,” said Kim’s attorney Laura Wasser, who noted that her client wants a trial date set this year. “Actually, I wrote up a stipulated judgment. I’m just trying to get someone to pay attention to me.” Wasser added that the two divorce parties “get along” and communicate, although they are still asking for Kanye’s “disclosure statement” in order to close the case. Preliminary financial disclosures were filed by Kim’s legal team in November, while Kanye has yet to do so.

Divorce proceedings are scheduled to go to trial on December 14, but if more evidence and witnesses are needed, the case will be moved to another courtroom. Cochran asked Wasser to ask Kanye to respond to the case by September 30, and the trial will continue if he does not respond. “We would like the parties to try to settle the case and come to a stipulated judgment, if possible, and then be ready to have a trial on unresolved issues,” Judge Cochran said.
