Friends surprised by the split between Ashley and Wynonna Judd

After news broke that Naomi Judd had named her widower as executor of her estate, numerous reports surfaced that her daughters, Wynonna Judd and Ashley Judd, had been ‘excluded’ from the will.

Afterwards, the Daily Mail even reported that Wynonna planned to challenge the decision. But sources close to the family told Page Six they were confused by the claims.

A source pointed out that just because Larry Strickland, her husband of 33 years, was put in charge of the $25million will doesn’t mean nothing will be left for his daughters.

“It is not known whether other arrangements have been made [in the will]. You don’t know all the arrangements,” the source said.

They also said the girls were close to Strickland, 76.

“He’s been a part of their lives since the late 70s – since they were young. He’s not a stranger,” they said.

Wynonna would be upset that her late mother, Naomi, left her out of her will.

“It’s easy for people to say, ‘There must be problems there,'” the source said. “[But] for the people who knew them, Larry was always there. They call it “Pops”. They all have adjoining farms.

The source also pointed out that the two women have their own fortunes.

Naomi committed suicide on April 30.

No doubt, of course, there were conflicts between the women.

Wynonna admitted it last month at a Brandi Carlile concert. Wynonna joined her on stage and spoke of her “hard season of sadness” since “my mom has been gone for two months”.

“I’m the artist formerly known as ‘The Judds,'” she said, referring to the duo she formed with her mother. “My sister is here tonight, and we’re the new Judds now, and she’s sitting offstage.”

“I’m a Judd, not a judge… Sorry, call someone and say, ‘I’m sorry for myself. What can we do to heal? she told the crowd.

Wynonna then said, “That’s what we’re doing tonight.”

“We’ve been very disconnected because of the schedule and all you mean – family dysfunction, but we showed up tonight,” she said before singing and dedicating “Love is Alive.” at Ashley.

“We’re going to sing this song in honor of my sister because it’s been about 12 years since she’s heard me sing, and it’s the start of a new chapter,” she said.

Our source tells us Wynonna is “really honest and open.” And while they haven’t spoken about the will yet, “if Ashley or Wynonna want to say anything, they’ll work it out,” they said.
